Earlier I padded into the kitchen in my bare feet and found I was paddling in water. I hadn't been in for a few hours as I was busy with crosswords. But last time I thought I could hear drips but couldn't locate it.
OH had a rummage and found it was coming from a cupboard that had the water tap in. It was leaking from the water pressure thingy for the water softener. Had to rin SIL for help as he installed it. He came round with his bags of tricks. He has managed to fix it temporary but it involves a trip to screwfix tomorrow so he can fit a new part.
My kitchen is in chaos with having to empty a cupboard so worktop space is very limited, but used it as an excuse to bin a few things.

Felt like it OG. Realised it had been playing up last few weeks. It's supposed to regenerate itself every week but lately it has been doing it about three times a week but didn't think anything of it.
You're lucky Caran it wasn't worse. My bathroom radiator leaked last year - dripped into the ceiling of working kitchen, massive hole, back bedroom soaking- ripped up carpet and carpet for stairs. Whole house had to be redecorated.
Get yourself some doctor fish, Caran. Then you could do the cooking and get a pedicure at the same time ;-)

Kitchens are frightening places
Just had to dump so much food when fridge
freezer had a conniption
Went into overdrive and froze everything
Having turned it off at the mains it is now playing nicely
What's a conniption?

We are plagued with water problems, we have had three major floods in the past. First one, I set washer to come on over night. It had just started apparently when Severn Trent turned the water off. The soap powder solidified. When the water came back on it couldn't get into the drum so just kept on trying to fill for hours. I was in a bungalow then, so when I got out of bed in the morning I paddled up to my ankles in water.
We have had two floods in this house, both by a valve at the back of the washer. It filled the foundations then came up through the floor. Entire ground floor flooded. Insurance were brilliant. All new carpets, redecorated after a six week drying out stint. Most depressing time ever and it happened again five years later.
