In Downton Abbey Lord Grantham wears three medal ribbons. They must be pre-1st World war medals. That leaves the Boer War of 1899 to 1902. Does anyone now what medals they were?

One thing I noticed watching Downton Abbey was that when in uniform Lord Grantham wore his Sam Browne belt in the house. Having served myself I know that when entering the Mess or someone's house you left your belt together with your cap and stick at the coat stand at the entrance. You would never wear it walking about in the Mess or house.
