Have had notification my supply switching to octopus by end of month. How do I find out what the tarrif would be and how do I stop and switch suppler if I find something cheaper.
Before the supplier has contacted me to say the deal was ending. I've gone on a comparison site then switched through them
I'm worried now because I feel it's getting switched automatically
Could someone advise please

I don't think they can put you on a fixed term deal that you can't get out of without a penalty without you agreeing. I am sure the notification would have said somewhere what hapens if you don't want to move or it would have given alternatives. If you are on a standard variable tariff I suppose they could have just set you up to go on the new supplier's equivalent but there must be an opt out clause.
The only other possibility is that this is the same deal but the supply contract has been passed over by M&S to Octopus until the end of term. When was yours due to finish.
I suspect the terms also include a cancellation/coooling off period.
I think you need to look at the paperwork/email/website in detail. It might be worth contacting though to say you will be looking to change

My understanding is that M&S is switching from its present supplier(SSE) to Octopus and, if you remain with M&S, this will result in cheaper tariffs; details of which you are to be informed.

Thanks for your replies, all of which have put my mind at rest. I was worried when I received the email yesterday saying I hadn't done anything about it. Couldn't sleep
I haven't read the link having just got in from work. However, I will do. Knowing that Octopus are ok is good because I'd never heard of them
Thanks once again. I find this an excellent site
