the churches in Ireland and Wales were anglican and if one wanted to scrap them ( taxes and paying for priests in a church you didnt go to etc) you would be a be a disestablishmentarian
and you know like anti-dreyfusistes, those against the idea were ....
and so .... you can wheel it out when people start saying the Church of England should not have state support
Incrdible - the prot vicars in the 1850d thought they were entitled to an income and some didnt even turn up every week to celebrate services - see the ecclesiastical novels of Trollops ( more interesting than they sound) - Signora Vesey's father was a vicar who stayed mainly on the shores of a lake in switzerland.
The signora herself ( r>nglish girl ) had jumped out of a window to escape her violent husband and had crippled hereself in the attmept.
