how do you make your dog drink?

my boxer had a funny turn last week, the vet said she was a little dehydrated but not enough to cause a turn.
my wife has noticed how little the dog drinks and worries?
she eats well but seems to drink less than 1/2 a lt a day
she's a medium build female.

Some dogs will only drink or prefer to drink running water. I have a friend that bought a fountain type bowl for her dog. My rottie likes to drink from a squirty bottle when i take him for walks. Try her with diluted milk also. Hope this helps.

you could try mixing some water into her dog food - i remember reading this in a dog book when we'd just got our pup. and my dog loves ice cubes, which is a good way to herself down in this weather.

I had to make sure my dog drinks enough water and I have been feeding more canned food and I put water in her kibble and I got low fat, low sodium chicken broth and dilute with water and use it in food and make ice cubes with it also to give the cubes a flavor, you can use beef also if you want variety. My dog gets a cranberry extract pill and EsterC pill to keep her urinary track clear since she has a tendency to form crystals which comes from a ph imbalance in her urine or something like that, I tried to follow the vet explanation.
The fountain and ice is a good suggestion also, IMHO.
I wouldn't give milk unless your dog can tolerate it. If it gives them the runs that will make her dehydrated more.

we use to have dalmation that never drank so we put water with her food, (even though it was tinned food), and if it was particularly warm we use to give her diluted milk.
