Enjoy St. Ives, Lady Cg....

We holidayed in St. Ives because an ex renal nurse had opened a small hotel using her conservatory as a dialysis unit.
On our first visit we had the attic room and the radiator wasn't working well.....renal patients feel the cold....so MrG started fidgeting with the radiator using a teaspoon...
I asked why he didn't use a radiator key......Who on earth goes on holiday with a radiator key! was his sniffy reply....
Well I have five in my handbag...I gloated.....I have no idea why I had five radiator keys but my handbag is a magic bag at times....and he was warm.....
All the renal residents were male and the wonderful thing for them that just before each session she would give the men a pint of beer.....a rare treat as they were restricted to just a few drops of liquid a day......this was bliss for them and of course it was dialysed straight out so no harm done....
I spent time on my own as mixing with the partners who just seemed to moan about their lot wasn't my idea of fun.....but I loved wandering around and exploring....
Our last holiday there was cancelled because the nurse/hotel owner had been diagnosed with liver cancer.... I was upset for her and angry too......a lovely lady who was helping others was dying young.....life does suck sometimes.....we shouldn't moan should we....... :-)

I think that nurse had just cause to moan, gness.
Will be down in Padstow next month so might go to St Ives for a day trip I think.

Oh she did, Tony......but so many with nothing much to moan about seem to do nothing but moan......yet someone like her made the best of the time she had left and even offered to take residents when she felt well enough......x
Hope you make it, Baldric...it is lovely though I've not been back since our last session...x

Gness No, we shouldn't moan. I have a shedload of very upsetting problems at the moment, but I am hugely appreciative that I and Mr. J2 are still here to cope with them and help the others involved. That is so very sad, but is there hope for her? Liver transplants are not too rare - a French friend collapsed with liver failure the other year and is alive and kicking after receiving a third of a liver. Hoping to see him before too long. Yes, life can be dreadful at times - you learn to cope and love the good times and the beauty.
That will be good, Baldric.....if you can make it and watch Boaty sail to earth.... :-)
She didn't make it, J.....but yes, some of us do love and appreciate the good times......
What I've noticed just recently is that there are a few abers going through seriously bad times.....but you'd not know it.....they don't moan or gripe......something for us all to consider....x
