I live near York. Of course I like it (despite the hen and stag parties who tend to ignore it's history in favour of vast quantities of alcohol)
Birmingham RIP
Yes love it. Its small and very friendly.

//I live in a large town and like it very much friendly people and close to countryside etc.

One historical fact is that James Stanley, 7th Earl of Derby was beheaded here in 1651.//

Are there ghostly sightings of him walking about the town ?
London. Bits of it (the working-class bit that rushed to the help of Grenfell, the Jewish bit of it that rushed to the help of Grenfell, .... I think you get the picture) I love and would defend to my death.

Other bits of it (the City of London Barrow Boys, the bosses talking shop at Westminster, the rich lumps of grass who infest the west end and attempt to buy up old working class areas) - I would happily see slide into the Thames and disappear for ever.

Thanks Mamyalynne for the update on the Pastie Shoppe, I did hear at one time that it was closed! Do the footie fans up there need oxygen being to high in the table???????
Re someone's question regarding the haunting by the late Earl of Derby, the pub there The Old Man and Scythe, is reputed to be haunted.
I live in a village, the same one that I have lived in all of my life. I couldn't really imagine wanting to live anywhere else.
Three cities fairly close to me, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Lichfield and if I had to live in any of those three it would definitely be Lichfield.
