As per my earlier question, not sure what section to put this in - feel free to move it to a correct section.

OK, I had to apply for a NI driving licence as a UK driving licence as that is the rule over here.
So firstly they assumed as I was born abroad I didn't have right to reside so had to prove that, I phone up for an update yesterday and they informed me that they have informed immigration and are now waiting for advice from them.
This is now getting silly, is there anything I can do? who do I complain too? Do I wait till I get my licence and then complain or complain on Monday and risk annoying them and delaying my licence longer?
All help gratefully received.

Doesn't sound like anything other than routine checking and they have just informed you of a delay. Wait for your licence and then query the process if you still feel it was unnecessarily stringent.

I have always been a British citizen from Birth, I don’t understand why if I was entitled to hold a U.K. driving licence why they would now feel the need to investigate further. My parents were British and I feel that perhaps it’s more political with what’s going on currently with brexit.
You are probably right although because a driving licence is one of very few items of I.d that enables you to open a a bank account it is more likely to be part of the anti money laundering rules
What happened when you presented your UK passport (assuming you did)?

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you. When I presented my uk passport the official seemed confused as to why the ‘right to remain ‘ stamp was missing. I tried to explain that I didn’t need one, I then went on and showed them my warrant badge that again I wouldn’t have if I had no right to remain. To know involve immigration is just going beyond.
This is getting really silly, RR.....but I can see it coming to the point where you will be deported! But to where?

I'd not complain til I had my licence....doesn't take much to irritate a jobsworth....

Gness it really isn’t funny anymore, I am getting seriously concerned I mean immigration? What The Funicular!
Does your job not count for anything?

You’d thinks so ummmm, this has gone beyond an over zealous admin assistant, it’s actually stressing me out
I can imagine. They obviously know the reason you were born abroad?

So all kids born over seas to military parents risk being deported? That is absolutely effing nuts.

My dad asked the same questions, he wondered if every child born to serving parents are now at risk.
Husband thinks its funny but to me its now beyond a joke!
Thing is I can't even complain to the MLA's as they are all on strike!!
I know it's not funny, RR.....but if you can't stay where would they want to send you.......
I'm not laughing.....I'm incredulous......and could, at some point, be involved in the same problem if your experience is anything to go by.....x
