I know this has been discussed many times on here so once more,
the year is 2018
there is billions of pound spent and in some cases wasted,
foriegn aid to countries like india ,
the powers that be in britain should be held to account,
never in all my years did i think i would see foodbanks in my beloved scotland,
so can someone tell me why is it i feel ashamed that there is foodbanks in my country
I’m a great believer in foreign aid and don’t see it as a waste at all. As for food banks they are needed until governments sort out the benefit and working benefits system
I don't think that foreign aid and funding of national internal needs are incompatible, no matter how many times folk try to pair the two; but of course funds need allocating sensibly.
No, I don't know why the Welfare system seems inadequate; we pay taxes. Food banks are a mystery. The welfare safety net should be there as needed. Either it isn't, or recipients are not using their aid correctly.
Theres a safety net called Universal Credit...potential recipients can wait up to several months for money. Meanwhile they become deeper in debt with no funds for food amongst other day to day needs. Hence one of the many reasons foodbanks have become so necessary
