Phoning Australia From Uk

A friend in Australia has sent her mobile phone number to me and it only contains 10 numbers.
It starts with 0404, do I drop the first 0 and put +61 in front ? or what

If you're using a landline phone, dial 00 61 404 etc.

If you're using a mobile phone, replace '00; with '+' (although '00' will probably work as well).

Why not phone them using Whatsapp, then it wont cost you anything (if you are both on a wi fi connection).

Plus you wont need to know their phone number, just what name they used on WhatsApp.
