Taxi Drivers Not Wearing Seatbelts.

Recently mentioned to me that a lot of local taxi drivers don't wear seatbelts . I now always look to see if they do ,and must admit the majority of them don't . Are they risking a 3 point licence penalty or dont they legally have to wear them.

Yes I remember that utter nonsense, Eddie. Some otherwise quite sane friends of mine subscribed to that view. Of course at that time countless thousands of people every year were in cars that somehow spontaneously caught fire and would have been trapped had they been wearing a seat belt. However, the number of people killed or seriously injured when in a collision whilst unrestrained was virtually zero. :-)

^ Yes I was too young to drive at the time. I remember an adult friend of the family ,proudly displaying his seat belt knife, and telling me he was not going to burn alive.
