Would there be an audience for a programme like this if it was returned to the airwaves?
I know, in order to reflect the diversity of our society, it could no longer be confined to Christian services.

no, i think that this programme has had it's day! the percentage of people who regularly attend church is really low. most of the congregation that attend are fair weather attendees who go to be on television. religion has been at the core of so much strife. the sight of so much gold and precious stones is diametrically opposed to the teaching of the christ.

There are no precious stones or gold in our little church, magpie. I did visit a Greek orthodox place in Cyprus which had so much gold that I felt sick; the money could do so much good. Please do not class all churches as the same.

The broadcasting Service Licence for BBC One and BBC Two stipulates that these channels broadcast at least 110 hours of religious programming each year, including some high impact religious programming in peaktime.

The congregation is made up of people from surrounding churches. It's good propaganda to make everyone think that loads of people attend church every week.

Further to earlier answers the percentage of people attending churches in the UK is increasing and not falling as has been suggested.

Maybe it should be on Sunday morning instead, after all no one is in church any more... actually that's not true a black Pentecostal type group take over our community hall every Sunday it must be heaving from the volume of the Hallelujah s and praise the Lord's,

I'm fairly sure ITV used to have Sunday Morning Service in the early sixties.
