Should I Compensate Neighbors?
31 Answers
I had my front garden turned into a block paved drive. The person did it while i was away on holiday. My neighbors came and told me off when i got home that when he cut the tiles he didn't dampen down and their cars and house Windows were covered in brick dust. Should i offer to get their cars and Windows cleaned?

Up to you.
IMO an employee is your responsibility, whereas a hired tradesman/woman holds responsibility for themselves. Your neighbours should know who's responsible and only be informing you, not telling you off.
Not necessary to take the rap for the individual, but your suggestion is a thoughful gesture; and you do have to live by your neighbours and get on with them. They ought to have the sense to know it's not your fault though and politely refuse.
Or, if you have a jet washer, offer to put it over their cars/windows as a gesture of friendship.
