Whatever Happened To Germolene Ointment And Why
23 Answers
This good old first aid favourite is no longer available in the UK and neither is the TCP equivalent. Much better than the cream for some applications can anyone recommend an antiseptic ointment that can still be purchased over the counter. Also, if anyone knows why these products have been withdrawn I'd be pleased to know. Thanks in anticipation for any replies.

The brand was bought by Bayer and they discontinued the ointment.

Just purchased 5 tubes of Germolene Pink Antiseptic Ointment from South Africa. It arrived this morning, is pink and has the same smell we all remember. About 65% cheaper than Amazon traders price but still not cheap as works out at approximately £13 per tube once postage is added (c £20). Postage is airmail, recorded and expensive but worth the risk. Buying might appear risky but I checked out payment details with PayPal and they confirmed the account to be paid into did exist as was also on the PayPal data base, so not a fraud or scam. Process entails you providing your e-mail address (when they ask) so seller can cross check your own reality/you do exist with PayPal, so it is not fraudulent for them either. Delivery took 2-3 weeks from initial order over the web. Look up "The Expat Shop in South Africa on Google. 5 tubes should last me several years. Good Luck.
