1.The Toughie is noted for it's high level of difficulty but I found the answer to a few of today's clues easily answered with the help of Wordplays, e.g. 6down, 22across.
2. I have not got far with the Toughie puzzle as I am doing the Radio Times RT37.
3. With reference to the Crossword 28835, I got the answers to clues 20A and 25
1.I made my post today to encourage other players of the same level as myself to attempt to solve today's Toughie which the Daily Telegraph themseles describe as "notoriously difficult and diabolical".
2. With help I managed to solve the Toughie puzzle last Tuesday so I am in the process of doing the same this week.
3..When I am stuck for an answer to a clue and cannot get help from Wordplays, I request help from experts like yourselves
on the Answerbank/Crossword site.
4. When I started the Toughie today I found that I could answer 19 across and 14 down without help.
5. From there, I obtained help in solving clues 20D and 22D from the Wordplays site.
6. Wordplays gives a choice of answers to clues when a mixture of known and unknown clues, i.e (?) are given
6. Like "the whale which gets harpooned when it comes up to spout" I then posted my suggestion for others to try the Toughie
7. I abandoned today's puzzle 28835 as soon as I found that a single answer is given when the clue and number of letters in the clue are provided. This happens every week and wish that it could be stopped,
