Thank you for your apology - accepted with the grace it is offered.

Rockrose - // Sorry Anotheroldgit I call rubbish on your excuse //
Why apologise for your viewpoint?
That said, I think you are being unfair to AOG. he has acknowledged his error and apologised, let's move on, and not derail the thread with any uncalled for hostility.
I will call AOG out all day long in the spirit of fair debate, and he will do the same to me, but we try (!) not to get personal, it derails threads.

Bazile - // AH
Do you really think that SW is playing tennis now , just for the money ? //
Not for on second, no.
What I do believe is that the personality needed to get to this level, where money is high, remains the driving force long pas the time when - as in Ms Williams' case - the money is not the driving force.
My point, not clearly expressed, is that high earnings which accompany high levels of success, can have a detrimental effect on some, but by no means all, sportsmen and women, and affect their behaviour.
I don't think for once moment that Ms. Williams was considering the loss of the victor's fee when she was making her stand against the umpire - it was her sense of fair play that was outraged, not her bank balance.

Thank you Andy, you sir are a gentleman, in accepting my apology. //
I actually feel quite bad that the tirade of my initial post was directed at an honest mistake!
However, we are seasoned combatants, and we will move on to spar again in the spirit of debate, and let our errors roll into the distance, as they always do.

/// I actually feel quite bad that the tirade of my initial post was directed at an honest mistake! ///
Don't feel too bad at that time you could not have possible known that I had made a mistake.
But having said that Andy, you need not have been so harsh towards me as you were then and often are.
By all means question my argument, that is what debate is all about, it would be a funny old world if we all held the same opinions.
