Has anyone owned or driven this vehicle? The memsahib is thinking of purchasing one as a runabout. I don't think she will be going mud plugging along the leafy Surrey bridle paths.
Looking at them from the rear the torsion bars on rear axle look like they would get torn off traversing a pebble let alone rough terrain. They appear to have a too low Cof G. Are they a good ride and reliable? I don't reckon them personally having owned Series Land Rovers and I recall the mother of two boys called William and Harry described them as a 'tart's cart'. :-)

By the overwhelming response to my query I think I can take it that the RAV 4 is not a particularly popular car, lol
Thanks for the negativity. A blank screen speaks a thousand words. :-)
From Which?..."spacious, east to drive. Lacks refinement and ride comfort". It gets just 2 stars for ride comfort, 4 stars for performance and reliability.
....EASY to drive...!!

Built like a brick out-house, reliable and if you don't do serious off-roading not a problem.

OK. Thanks for your input all. Hope I can dissuade her from the 'tart's cart'. Plenty of good late Defenders around. Discos and Freelanders yuck. Forget it.
I have a RAV4 and love it - its old and reliable but I did have to get the engine cleaned up a bit. Great on diesel and very comfortable on long journeys.
