MY HUSBAND HAD A HEART ATTACK IN 2002 AND WAS TOLD PART OF THE HEART HAD BEEN DAMAGED - HE RECOVERED WELL AND BEEN ON MEDICATION EVER SINCE. HE WAS GIVEN A COPY OF A TRACING DONE LAST MONTH WHICH REPORTED THE HEART TO BE NORMAL
SHOULD THIS TRACING NOT HAVE BEEN REPORTED ON AS SHOWING THE PREVIOUS HEART ATTACK?
Good question.
it depends upon which part of the heart was involved.
In the majority of heart attacks the ECG changes persist BUT if the damaged part of the heart is in a particular site (subendocardial) then the ECG tracing may resort to normal.
