Moped Mugging

Someone snatched my phone off a moped today. Not too bothered as it was only an I phone X no the XS, however still bloody annoying. I should report it to the police but that is probably a waste of time

Becoming epidemic in some, if not all of UK cities. Saw something recently on TV, people two up on a stolen moped mounting the pavement and snatching phones whilst people are using them.

Of course report it to the police. They are alway being knocked for having no presence but they won't if crime isn't reported!!

You should have gone into the nearest shop and called 999 (that's the advice given to me from a policeman) as he said these types of crimes are usually committed by people known to them!

Sorry to hear about your mobile. However, you should report it - may seem like a waste of time but may help build up a picture and prevent another such theft.

Eh? That was a grand last year.. Police won't chase motorbikes or mopeds, it's too unsafe. However they will probably try to check CCTV in the area..

You should report it- and you will need the crime reference number if you want to claim on insurance.

I think you will find that info now redundant.

The GMP and Met have now dedicated teams on car and motorcycle to attempt to combat moped mugging. Not without success.
As advised you will need a crime report no to give your insurance co should you wish to proceed down that route

Ah, it seems you're correct as part of operation venice met police have introduced new dirt style motorbikes for pursuits
