Boy band

What was the name of the boyband that were around about the same time as Boyzone. They were also Irish, about the same age, and had a blond male singer who bore a resemblance to Ronan Keating. I think they were a four piece band.

I think the band you to whom you refer is Westlife - they are a five-piece, but they fit the rest of your description. If not, please re-post with any additional information, and see what comes up from The Answerbank.

This depends on what you mean by 'the same time as Boyzone', because they were active as a group for quite a few years. The only other Irish boyband I can think of off the top of my head is OTT, but I think there were five of them. The Big Breakfast kept calling them 'The new kings of pop' -- but I think you can guess how accurate that prediction was...

No they were around just as Boyzone were starting out, maybe even before Boyzone. They stopped releasing singles a long time before Westlife appeared. I am almost certain they were a four piece band, with one lead singer, rather than all five of them singing, as Westlife do.

I believe it is OTT you are thinking of. They were a 4 piece Irish band and had their biggest (and last) hit with The Story Of Love. That was in '97/8. They also, quite sadly, did one of the nude male centrefold's for Cosmopolitan magazine!
