There's a letter in the Mail today which really hit the spot for me. I have always thought that there is no connection between the Brussels elite and the ordinary European people.

My French neighbours did not think it was wonderful. They were having their identity stripped from them, losing historic systems - such as each Departement having its own vehicle registration system and numbers - and being brought under large regional administrati ve areas. Interesting. If it is typical.
But typical or not, in any case we must be free of EU control and not rush to join another controlling group. We need free trade with as much of the world as possible, not an agreement to be dictated to by elsewhere.
(I note Japan was trying to resurrect TTP recently with it's attempts to let merchants control governments by allowing them to sue if they thought that the democratically elected goverment had passed something that benefitted their citizens but meant the merchant hadn't done their risk assessment properly and wouldn't profit as they'd hoped.)

The area as a whole voted massively pro- F.N. and anti-EU in the last election. Some communes voted 100% F.N. others voted 100% Communist. As in UK, it was cities v. the countryside.
