Do sovereigns have different values? For example, one from the reign of George V would be more valuable than one from the reign of Elizabeth II?
Or is it just the weight in gold?

some do
but they are just used as Bullion

and looks around £230
there is a buy sell spread which gives the dealer his profit
( and provides the rationale of programmes like Dicko's Deal)
230 looks as tho it is buy
The current value of gold plays a major part in the price but there is also a premium according to the condition and rarity.

Several mints were used to produce the coins and the mint marks will have an impact upon the price too.

If you have a look on the internet there are loads of sites selling the coins but mind they will be buying them for a much lower price.

not that low - the spread is 5-10% innit ?
I’ve always found “Cash For Your Gold” give a better price than others I have looked at.
It's value must be related to it's desirability which will effect it's price to a collector.

Thanks everyone. Asking for a friend. Sounds complicated.
Ha a look on one of the websites and they say they don't have time to look through a list of coins you're offering to see if they're worth more than scrap.

You would need to discuss any valuable one you have with them or hope someone at their end will be honest and give you better than scrap for it.
