Opening new browser window when clicking on link...

I would like to be able to assign a command to, say, my middle mouse button, that when I use it to click on a link in a IE window it opens that link in a new window rather than in the exixsting one, while still keeping the left button for regular clicking.....

At the moment to open a link in a new window requires right click on link then selecting 'open in new window' formt he menu. There must be a way or setting a shortcut for this to a button surely?

Unless you can configure it with the specific mouse driver for your mouse (although bog-standard mice are just plug and play), I don't think it's possible.

The other option is to shift+click links. That will force a new window to open...

The default action in Firefox when pressing the middle button is to open the link in a new tab, which does basically what you want.

I wouldn't be surprised if IE7 hadn't nicked the "middle button" trick from FF...
