Overnight stay
I am considering going to a conference which would mean i would have to stay overnight in a hotel beforehand and am worried about leaving my one year old son for the first time. What age did you first leave your child? He will be with my other half (his dad) at night and with my mum during the day. I am just really worried about leaving him and am tempted not to go because i think i will feel guilty if i do. Any advice?

i left mine overnight with my mum at 6 weeks you have to remember your son came to live with you, you didn't go to live with your son so why should he get to dictate your life, he will love being at his nans, don't feel guilty and enjoy your time away then you can look forward to getting back to him and leave him more often with lots of different people that you trust then he will seperate from you easily when time comes for playgroup etc, hope above doesn't seem too harsh as its not meant to be enjoy your conference and your little boy good luck
My baby is 5 months old and i left her for the first time last month when i went to stay overnight with a friend who lives out of town.
She was with her Dad who goes away on business all the time so he loved having the opportunity to have her to himself for a change. And after all Dads should be just as capable of looking after the kids as mums are!
Just go and enjoy yourself it will help your son in the long run as he cant expect you to be there 24/7 forever.

i had my first night out when my baby boy was 6 weeks old.left baby with his dad.felt little worried but his dad was more than capable. then when he was 3 months my mum took him for a day & a night when me & my partner went away.felt worried again but again everything was fine.baby matthew enjoyed it & his gran & grandad had a great time looking after their grandson.i love being with matthew & would do anything for him but i personally think it's good for you to have other things going on and it's good for baby too.i'm sure everything will be fine it's just one of those little hurdles u have to get over.
Can't remember exactly how old mine were when I left them for the first time, and I did worry. But I assume you trust your partner and mother to look after him - be careful that you don't give the impression that you don't think they can look after him! I expect they will really like the opportunity to have him to themselves - and even if it's tricky, it's only one night. Enjoy your time to yourself at the conference - you'll miss your baby but I'm sure you will appreciate having a few minutes just for yourself once you get there.
