Will You Be Able To Import A Raccoon Dog?

I am confused about the uk law on animals. Is it legal to keep a raccoon, Genet or raccoon dog? After 2nd February 2019 can you import raccoon dog? (The rspca made law states you cannot sell one in the UK after that time but nothing else is said)

The importation of raccoons into the UK has been banned under EU regulations since 2016, as they're regarded as an invasive species.

There seems nothing in the Government's post-Brexit plans which would change that situation and, given that the UK has always supported calls for bans on invasive species (together with the valid concerns of the animal welfare lobby), it would seem to be extremely unlikely that there will be any deviation from the status quo.

a raccoon dog is called that because it looks like both animals. It's technically a dog as it's in the Canidae family
