Have received electricity bill and it has given me an estimated reading.

I never usually do anything about it - just pay it per se by direct debit - is it my own interests to read the meter and give the actual meter reading.

Thanks

right - ok - went outside to get a reading but it is freezing and I need a screwdriver to unlock meter.
The meter must be read at some time. I pay monthly and give meter readings every quarter but someone still comes twice a year to read the meter. I tell them I send readings in but they just say they have to do it anyway.
I normally always give reading. Because my money is better in my bank
Always do your own reading as meter readers can make mistakes - believe me as I've had that happen to me.
Get a smart meter, according to the adverts you can save enough energy to power a town .
Not everyone can get a smart meter. Our mobile phone signal is not strong enough to allow us to have one.
As well as the supplier calling to "read the meter" each year, a check is also made to ensure that nothing has been done to circumvent the meter!
