About three houses around my locale were setting off fireworks when we came home yesterday evening at about 1900hrs. What the ,,,, was that all about? I am of the firm opinion that pyrotechnics should only legally be ignited on two nights of the year.
Nov 5th and 31st December.
Jno I think it varies from area to area. In many places the problem has become worse with more random use and more misuse. Last year round here there were quite a few instances of lit fireworks being thrown at ridden horses and cars and there were also instances, not local to me, of them being thrown at emergency services too. I agree that it would be a step too far to ban them completely.
What's evil is commercialisation of what should be a simple evening of fun. Once the big stores latched on to the money making aspect it was down hill from there.
Not just fun, but educational. It’s critical to be aware of potential “evil”. Keep ypur friends close but your enemies closer!!! Do we not remember Judas?
30+ years ago we had black Play-Doh at playgroup for Halloween (just as one might have an Easter egg theme at Easter) just for a bit of fun. Obvs this was way before Harry Potter but the Baptist parents were outraged!
I don't think it's evil but it has certainly been hi jacked by commercialism. Called into B & Q, most of the staff running around as ghosties and ghoulies, shoving tins of sweets at children saying go on, take a handful. Most of the youngsters didn't and left crying, they seemed genuinely scared.
Since the occult is knowledge of the hidden or paranormal, all interest in religion, or science for that matter until something's become known, is dabbling in the occult.
Folk with susceptible minds (for want of a better term) can get issues from all sorts of things. Unreasonable to disapprove of experimentation because a vulnerable few can't handle it. End up experiencing nothing that way.
Evil is what you define it as. Fancy dress and themed parties are harmless enough.
