No! Even when i was a young soldier, super-fit from 3 month initial training, i stuck to sprint distances. Never liked running just for the sake of it. I have raised money for charities but by other means. And i find that those who do run these marathons, bore you to tears ever after.
I would not run a marathon..... Too old, but I would give money to the charity that was being run for by the individual I knew

Fair Play to the man. Where did I go wrong?. I only ran (for fitness) when I was required to do so never for recreation.

Yes, if I was fit.
No I went running with my partner and it nearly killed me, had no idea how unfit I am. Went home had an asthma attack and a big cake to get over it :)
