"I am in as long as it has nowt to do with muslim/islam"
AKA, "even though i have no idea what Diwali is (obviously..) i still wish to make sure to mention that it isn't about Muslims before i willingly partake in an event i've obviously just heard about".
I love Diwali. Not something that is really celebrated around me though. I remember making little clay pots at school to hold a candle. The meaning behind Diwali is lovely.
"victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance"
It is a Hindu festival, but it is celebrated by Sikhs, Buddhists etc.. All in similar slightly different ways. Nonetheless the festival represents the same symbolic victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
Festival of light - ok, fair enough.
Why do they need such ruddy big bangs and at quarter past midnight?
Is it a case of 'look at me, I've got more money to waste than you?'
And sod the rest of the community who aren't Diwalians….
