as Chris says, there are no hotels right on the beach in Bournemouth because they sit on top of cliffs either side - so you can get a frontline view but you will be above the beach - anything on East Overcliff Drive will be looking straight out to sea (not that your room necessarily will without asking). Traditionally the 'poshest' hotel in the town has always been The Carlton on that road although it may be a bit stuffy by today's standards.
