Animals Rights Groups - Are They Just Too Pc ?

People in Wool village, whose name has nothing to do with sheep, say a request by an animal rights group to rename it is "stupid" and "ridiculous".

Peta have written to Wool Parish Council asking them to rename the village "Vegan Wool".

The group says Wool should change its name as there is "systemic" cruelty to sheep in the British wool industry.

Wool Parish Council has posted the letter on their Facebook page asking for resident's thoughts.

What I’d say to all those who are ‘on the side’ of animals but find Peta’s alleged misdemeanours worrying is this.

There is a tremendous anti-Peta lobby. The veterinary ‘industry’, fuelled as it is by insurance and so ultimately big business; the pet food industry, worth billions; the general ‘speciesism’ which says that humans are not only the dominant species but SHOULD be the dominant species, and that the existences of non-humans is less important than that of humans.

So question every piece of negative news you hear about Peta - they’re not above criticism, but the ethical treatment of animals is worth fighting for.

I used to live just down the road from Wool in a village called East Burton I spent most of my teenage years there but we were all sensible people then
