Where Was I? 25/11

Last week's puzzle (18th Nov) did not take that long to solve - the only piece I could not quite understand was the inclusion of the reference to the Victoria Sponge. (Granted, Newark became much developed during the Victorian era but I could not find anything remarkable to make a connection. Perhaps mention of a Bakewell Tart might have been too close for comfort?

This week's offering took less than 5 minutes to crack. Mr Newsom's style appears to be somewhat established and although not disagreeable, I do wish he would begin to concentrate on providing more substance to his weekly plot. Maybe he needs to ask for an increase in his expense account so that he can travel further afield.

I suspect that specifying "Victoria sponge", rather than just "cake", was merely intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald narrative :-)

I suspect that Mr N indulges himself of a number of comestibles on each trip judging by the frequency of references he makes to them. It would not surprise me if, this week, he had "popped" into the park cafe next to the museum for afternoon tea comprising the ubiquitous "home made" scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam.
