Wrong cat I know but more traffic here.
Theres the possibility that I could get a paid job in the new year as a van driver with the foodbank that I voluntarily work for as a volunteer.
Im out of touch with how it all works now (working tax credits etc)
Can anyone tell me how it all works now that Universal Credit is been rolled out? (looking at various sights it seems to be a minefield).
The work would be for approx. 20 hours per week so obviously (on minimum wage at least) wouldn't even be enough to cover rent and council tax etc. How would it be made up nowadays?
Im desperate to get off benefits, I WANT to work and if that opportunity comes to me I want to take it but if Im going to have to use the foodbank myself to get by then its defeating the object

Nailit, I really do hope you get this job because you're really keen aren't you? I hope the food bank can see that too. I hate to be a merchant of doom, but can you think of any reason why they wouldn't give it to you? On the other hand, I'm sure you have lots of reasons why they should. You tell em' what they are!

The jobs already mine *IF* they can get the extra funding which they are hoping to get in the new year.
The foodbank isn't just about providing food for the needy but getting people into work as well within the organization where possible (or at least that is Stoke on Trent's foodbanks philosophy)
