Sweaty Shirt

Can anyone tell me please how to get rid of the smell of sweat from a nice cotton shirt? son got ready in a hurry for an unexpected night out and forgot the deodorant, its been in the wash twice but still smells.

Strong Solution of bicarbonate of soda work into the fabric allow to dry then launder with a little extra fabric conditioner in the final rinse

Try applying white vinegar to the offending area(s) to the point of it thoroughly wetting the fabric.

I was going to suggest bicarb also.

I'd try bicarb AND white vinegar. Vinegar first to soak the fabric, sprinkle on the bicarb, leave to fizz for a minute, then wash.

The solution that worked for me, was to wash at 60 degrees and use an antibacterial laundry cleaner.
I don't know if the 60 degree temperature, or the antibacterial cleaner did the trick; or if it was a combination of doing both that worked.
Either way, the clothes smelt nice and fresh afterwards :)
