Put butter or marge on both sides of the bread, and that should stop the moisture getting through. Mind you, some people on a picnic like a soggy sandwich containing tomatoes!
wrap the slices of tomato up separately and add them to the sandwich when you're ready to eat it.
My theory is probably because you are using freshly grown tomatoes--not chemically modified ?
I think that commercial sandwich makers often use a layer of lettuce between the tomato slice and bread to help form a barrier, So for a ham and tomato sandwich, you may have layers like bread, ham, tomato, lettuce, bread.
try putting a little bit of salt onthe tomato that normally works for me
try scooping out all the seeds ,then slice as normal thats what I do
A fashionable and healthy way is to grease said bread with olive oil first; personally I prefer them soggy especially when they are warm and smell of tupperware, a nostalgic effect I'm, er, quite fond of.
