Printing From Facebook Photograph

My daughter has taken a spectacular picture of herself and her fiance on the Rialto bridge in Venice and its presently showing on her Facebook page. Having spoken to her, I know its been taken at a resolution of no less than 8 megapixels on an S7 Edge. I'd like to take the photo off her Facebook page somehow, copy it to a SD Card or key and have it printed to a fair size so that she can hang it on her living room wall. I'm thinking of sending the image off to have it professionaly printed. My problem is that I have no idea how to copy and save the Facebook picture. Can this be done? If it can't, I know she still has the photo on her phone and I don't know how to do it from there either. I'm reluctant to ask her for her phone as I'd like the large print to be a surprise!

You could try this:
call up the picture on your computer.
press the print screen [prt sc] key.
the picture will be sent to your Paint program.
call up Paint and see the picture there.

Just because a photo has been taken at a high resolution it doesn't always mean that it will appear in the same resolution on a website. Many sites which host images from users automatically reduce the resolution of images in order to conserve bandwidth, so it's not possible to get decent quality prints from them.

Hower I've just taken a look at a random Facebook page and it seems that pictures can be saved from Facebook in the same way that they can from any sites which don't seek to block the feature. i.e. assuming that you're using a Windows PC, simply right-click on an image, select 'Save Image As' (or whatever alternative wording your particular browser uses), browse to your chosen location (such as 'My Pictures') and save the file there.

Bookbinder’s solution is probably the best way, but test the quality once you’ve got it in Paint or whatever - enlarge it 500% and print out what you get on a bit of A4 (preferably on photo paper).

It might be rough, but at least you’ll know before spending money on the poster.

Could you not get her to send you the original file, it'd be proper resolution then?

I don't think Bookbinder's solution is the best way. You'll be limited by the resolution of your computer screen and I think if you follow his test print it will be very pixelated.

Right click and save on facebook does save the image at Facebook's resolution and isn't affected by your computer screen but the resolution won't be good because facebook does reduce the file size if the image is very high res. If you have got an image editing progarm, its possible to open the file in your program and find out what the resolution is.

update: I have just checked and facebook uploads images at 72 dpi which won't work well to enlarge it.

Get the original and print that.

Anything else will be at a lower resolution.

Blow it up and it will look awful.

Yes. Make up a flattering story about wanting the picture on YOUR phone (or desktop). Be best all round!
