banana/potato up exhaust

I was telling my b/f about years ago when I worked in a factory the lads shoved either a banana or potato up the new lads car exhaust and it wecked his car when he tried to start it,but he says that it wouldnt work these days.Is this right??

Yeah the catalysts have a hole to let the moisture out.
All it does is stall the engine it wouldnt write off the car , we tried it years ago and all it did was whistle then blow out.

lol naz.No,I just vaguely remember then shoving something up the exhaust of his new car and hearing a bang whilst they all rolled arounf in hysterics,(little sods)

If you block the exhaust of a car by jamming a potatoe in the exhaust the car will start but after a short time the engine will just stop running. clear the exhaust and it will start again. Doing this will not permanantly damage the car.

Try it if you want to annoy someone!

A thick layer of grease is a better laugh. Gives off thick blue smoke as the exhaust heats up. Don't know about the tail pipe, but working at Kwik-Fit many years ago we'd stuff it down the front pipe, and warn the customer of slight smoking as the'factory paint burned off'...
