That's OK Dot, Dinnae fash yersel', Q & P isn't really your scene.

What we in Q & P would like is a search facility that:-

a) Has a database that is updated as soon as each new question is asked.

b) Has the opton to order the hits according to the user's wishes. e.g. (i) In order of date posted. (ii) In order of most recent response. (iii) Ordered by poster's name.

c) Has a database that does not give duplicate hits. Currently, every question appears as the question itself, and also as the page of questions on which it appears. I don't think there is any use for the page of multiple questions. Most searchers are looking for the questions themselves.

Here's hoping for a pink response. Even one in whatever colour the acolyte is allocated would be acceptable as long as the problem is sorted.

P.S. Sorry Dot, I lapsed into the vernacular there at the start, but I'm sure you get my drift.
For the search to work properly, there has to be an agreed way of referring to a crossword. If folk call the same crossword "Daily Telegraph General Knowledge Crossword" "DTGK" or "DT Gen " or whatever, the matches will differ. If folk made sure the number of the crossword was mentioned, a search could be made using the crossword number and clue number
How do you find the question if you have the no?
All I got were refs. to this post.
you could do what i have just done, ie go back a few pages untill you found the time from last night or follow this

What I meant was if folk put Daily Rant Crossword number 12345 or whatever it is in their question, folk just have to put in that number when searching and any other previous posts will be found.
Thanks.
I'm not so smart as you, so just put in the number in the search box. One day, I might get as good as everyone else.
Yeah in my dreams, but I do try.
Don't do yirsel down, no-one knows everthing about everything but you'd be surprised what you do know. Sometimes it's just a knack of choosing the right combination of words to stick in Go ogle and you'll find what you want.
Well ...come October the new Lemony Snicket book will be out and the site will be inundated with youngsters wanting to know the answers... and they repeat the same questions over and over and over again.
Anyone remember the last one..The Series of Unfortunate Events ?
