Wifi Odd Behaviour

First thing today, partner's and my iPad lost WiFi connection.

In the same room, both our Macs HAD connection.

Removed all ethernet cables to make sure that wasn't taking over, retried the Macs, still wifi connection. They did, although System Prefs. asked for WPA password (unusually). Put that in.

Ran Macs having turned off Ethernet, to test Wifi. They worked.

Obviously rebooted iPads, no difference.

Deleted Virgin network from iPad, reinstated it, with its password.

iPad settings says WiFi connected, with its 'tick'.

But iPad browsers etc. say 'no internet connection'.

All very odd. Next step is to take all the cables out of the router, redo, and restart.

Unless you've got any other ideas?

Wish there was an Edit function.

Thought I'd try an iPad 'Reset' (Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network) first, and lo and behold, it worked.

Anyway, hopefully some other poor iPad user will read this thread and get some help.

oddly i have had a similar problem with virgin today - my mobie and laptop unable to connect to the internet an the diagnostics saying it's a problem with the router, whereas, two other laptops in same room, no problem. i just uplugged it and re plugged it and it worked!

Have you tried rebooting your router?

Yes, eventually that’s what I did (although rebooting the router is only pulling out the power). Wonder if it was just us, or did other people have problems.

I have found when the internet is slow ( doesn't happen often) that the IPad gives the message 'safari cannot connect etc' but the laptop still works but slowly. Was your internet slow today?

Funnily enough margarettom, not a bit. It is fast round here (lucky NW London), and same as usual.
