I think David Niven played a character called Sir James Bond.T was he character in the 1967 movie "Casino Royale" which was some sort of spoof spy movie.

Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig are the actors who've appeared in the 'official' series.

If your 'big argument' centres around the other actors who've played Bond, you'll have to include David Niven in the 1967 version of Casino Royale. If you include US TV performances, the first actor to play Bond was Barry Nelson in 1954. If you need to include (South African) radio, you'll even have to include Bob Holness!

Barry Nelson played American agent Jimmy Bond in a live-action TV production. His opposite number was a Brit called Clarence Leiter. It was pretty dire - sort of Mickey Spillane stuff.

The Barry Nelson play in the "Climax!" series was also called "Casino Royale" and was based on the same Ian Fleming novel. It had a pretty good cast for its day, including Linda Christian, Peter Lorre, William Lundigan and Michael Pate. Of course you'd need to be past 60 to remember any of those names now.
