It is not much more than a shopping fest, the new religion.
Supposed to be "goodwill to all men," yet selfishness abounds with an, "I'm alright Jack, " attitude.
The spirit of the unenlightened Scrooge thrives in our society.
Workhouses, treadmills and prisons, or the modern equivalents are in full swing.

"'Tis the season of nostalgia," for me at least, and of a mix of emotions, as I am happy to see my kids and their kids enjoying it all and enjoying each other.
On the other hand, it makes me feel a yearning for the past, for the people I loved and lost, for the lost opportunities to have loved them more, for the simpler innocence of Christmases far gone.
Then it makes me sad, as the whole Christmas fest is like a giant magnifying glass, that brings into sharp focus the poverty, hurt and pain and loneliness of so many in this fast paced, materialistic and so often selfish world.
Food advertisements galore on the TV being beamed into the homes of those who are hungry, and denied even basic comforts in their time of need.
But that's just me. Maybe I am a bit weird, or miserable.
So Merry Christmas. X
