Got a Virgin ‘Superhub’ router (Netgear). Transformer (12v 2a) seems to be on the blink.

In the cupboard I’ve got a Netgear 12v 1,5a transformer.

What if any problems would I get if I used the 1.5v?

Well, trying it. Transformer is cold. Router is working.

Waiting for the crunch.
Have you replaced the dilithium crystals, tho?
My superhub is rated as requiring 2.5A.

Mostly the rating is over-egged to fully ensure safety. If your hub says 2A then you may well get away with 1.5A. Personally I would use it only until I could get another.
Just phone Virgin to get another router / power lead.

It will probably be free.

Thanks, ymb, guilbert. I’ll get one from Virgin (under contract) but Xmas looms.

Depends on what the Netgear router needs. What does it say on the back ?
Question Author
Old 12v 2a. New 12v 1.5.

That’s it. Can’t find ANYTHING else on the router.
Question Author
Geezer. Found out that the Router's maximum power consumption under load is Maximum / LOAD = 15.3 Watts.

My electricity knowledge is sparse, but my sums say 1.5a will do the job...

Could have issues with short term spikes, but I'd expect it to cope fine.
