Dunno, Sandy (Merry Christmas, by the way). Haven't seen the concert. (But do have BBC4's Tina interview and Fleetwood Mac documentary to watch.

What I like from rich entertainers when they comment on politics - which some often do - is consistency. I assume, for instance, that Mr Springstein would want to apply the same high standards of security to the protection of his country as he does to protecting his home.

Is that the kind of thing you had in mind?

I was thinking as he described the lives of his working class parents, and mentioned friends who'd died in Vietnam, that he was more than a champagne socialist/democrat.
But the older I get the more I come to see I'm wrong in many things. Are you telling mr another idol has feet of clay?

Small typo there. A consequence of the 3rd bottle of wine
Feet of clay, Sandy? Not at all. Don't know about his humble roots.

Only know that Bruce sings from the same song-sheet as most in the entertainment industry at the times when I've hear him speak politically..

The industry (not necessarily all the individuals who work in it) is , I believe, hypocritical. Instance the #MeToo movement and Harvey Weinstein. Check some of the YouTube collages of MeTooers and other Hollywood celebs sucking up to Mr Weinstein at the Oscars and the Golden Globes.
(I should have said "fawning to", shouldn't I?)
The metoo campaign is an odd thing because by virtue of the way the industry works victims are going to have been close to the perpetrators and will have undoubtedly sung their praises at some point to further themselves, that's pretty much a given, that's how it worked, and still works with some people not yet exposed. Singly no-one could have brought them down but as a group that's now happened so people who have previously sung the praises of Harvey Weinstein etc are free to speak their truth, sometimes even now though not without sanction or danger to themselves. Personally I wouldn't fancy testifying against him, I don't think I would ever feel safe and if those that have do then I think that's naive. For every one singing their praises there are ten who told him to go and stuff himself at the time and who never worked again as a result though.
As for Bruce Springsteen I think he may well be a patriot, my partner does a lot of work and support for ex military in the US, and I've met a few veterans and it's impossible not to be touched by their ( perhaps sometimes slightly misplaced) patriotism. They really do mean it, and some of them have sacrificed a huge amount for it and are really on skid row as a result. I imagine he sees that and admires it and empathises with it. x
I'm sure his patriotism emanates from being Bored in the USA
I would pay to not have to watch one of his concerts
I quite like some of his music, not all, but some.
