No. Spiders are far to fastidious to go anywhere near our moist and smelly mouths while we are sleeping - they would run around the outside and go about their business. Similarly, spiders do not crawl up plugholes - they would avoid a smelly and wet drain for the same reasons, apart from being unable to negotiate the S bend trap which is full of water. They wander into a bath or basin on their travels, and are unable to neogitate the slippery sides, and stay there until liberated or washed away, hence the myth that they travel through drains.

I'd say it strongly depends on what kind of friends you have. Just like: Do we ever get a lot of different swearwords written all over our bodies while we are sleeping?

I have sat in the bath and watched horrified as a very large British House Spider has crawled out of the overflow. Maybe MY overflow is very clean?

Apparantly we eat an average of 8 spiders a year. Can't remember where i heard that though. Probably an email of interesting facts!

As a (hopefully recovering) arachnophobe, I am reasurred by most of these posts - however, the answerbank article makes reference to the Cardinal spider which can have 12cm legs, in the UK. I have sees some bigguns in Devon, but never 12cm .........

It's not a thing that worries me. I'm sure they're delicious. In fact, I hear they taste like chicken.
