I've tried searching but there doesn't seem to be a thread in existence. So ...

This was another great crossword which has rounded off a superb year for the Listener puzzle. I thought the clues were top class (I especially liked 10dn and 24dn).

Despite initial reservations regarding the endgame rubric, when the penny finally dropped all became clear.

I agree that this was an excellent set of clues, and I very much liked the implementation of this evergreen theme. A gentle and enjoyable puzzle to end a truly vintage year of Listener puzzles.

I agree that there were some very nice clues, some of them quite tricky, causing me a few problems in the north-east and a couple elsewhere, which were only resolved when I saw what the endgame must involve.
Nice to have real words at every stage and a perfect grid that meets all of Ximenes' recommendations regarding checked and unchecked cells.

Best wishes for 2019 for all, solvers and sitters. The final steps were easier than anticipated, thankfully, but I wouldn’t say that the puzzle was easy, some tricky clues in there. As others comment, overall a fine finish to an excellent cross wording year

Now that I liked - a lot.

Excellent clues, no jiggery-pokery with missing letters or hidden messages and a clever endgame - immaculately put together with 'real words at every stage' - very satisfying.
