I finished work early today to give a statement to the police about one of my mothers carers who was stealing from her. We have clear cctv evidence- the note was one of three that we had noted the serial numbers of and - when she went to the shop to buy fags - the note was retrieved from the shop and the shop keeper has agreed to give a statement and still the police won’t prosecute. £10 is considered low level crime. So just to reiterate stealing from a 91 year old woman with Alzheimer’s is not worth the police prosecuting.
I have mentioned how the $$$$$ didn’t give her the medication she was supposed to give her
Or left her in bed without even checking on her
It’s no wonder people take the law into their own hands

That's something I guess Ric, everything must be done to protect those who need it most - life is tough enough without all this.

I'm sorry to say that since 1974 (The amalgamation of police forces) things have progressively gone downhill/.
I'm not surprised you're furious Ric.ror, I would be too. The amount should not matter - how many times has this happened and how many other vulnerable people are being targetted? Would certainly take it further.

Another update - had a call yesterday from the police
They have interviewed the woman and she admitted it. She said she wants to pay the money back and write a letter of apology! I said it wasn’t my money it was the care providers who provided the decoy money and we really have no idea how much she actually took. As for a letter of apology- well that was not anything I’m interested in. I said I wanted to make sure it would go on her record and would prevent her from working in the care industry again
Almost certainly CQC have been informed, they will ensure that the person will be put on POVA and will never work with vulnerable people again and the Police record will stop the person from working in many other lines of trust.

Well done Ric. ror for pursuing it to get a result!!
Sorry to hear this Ric.ror, glad that it is being dealt with though.
Put it on the internet
they have refused to action it
so it cannot possibly be influencing a prosecution

and sorry this has occurred - if she is advanced then the victim is probably the least affected - but sozza still
A little consolation, Ric, but even if this lowlife is not prosecuted and convicted, she will need an enhanced DBS check to work again with vulnerable adults as a carer. An enhanced check will disclose not only convictions but also relevant information held by the police.

However, as Barmaid suggests, a complaint to the police and/or the CPS should be instigated. You need to establish whether it was the police or the CPS who declined to take action.

I am guessing it was the police that made the decision
To be honest I’m content that she won’t be able to work again with the vulnerable
