Today the amber toxic fume light came on then off & whilst driving was intermittent, car seemed a bit sluggish , any remedies

Is there an emblem the shape of an engine on the yellow light ?.

If it's the particulate filter warning light, then you need to give the car a good long trip at a decent speed to burn the crud off.

It's Renault's daft name for the "engine management" warning light, I believe.

If it's this light then it could be any of many things that made it light up, your car will need to be plugged into a diagnostic computer for the car's ECU to tell the computer what the fault is.
The car felt sluggish because when the engine management light comes on the ECU puts the car into emergency mode and won't let go over a certain amount of rev's and thirty mph.
