As it is known now that 5 portions of fruit/veg a day is recommended. As i am not a huge fan of fruit myself, would glasses of pure fruit juice work the same? i.e if i had a glass of pure apple juice at breakfast, lunch, and dinner would that be classed as 3 portions out of the 5 recomended daily fruit/veg intake? cheers

Sadly not quite! You can count one glass of juice as your 5 a day. The reason being that although you get some of the vitimins you don't get the fibre or roughage and the sugars are slightly faster to your system so less balancing. There must be some fruits and vegs that you like. I find that I don't have many cooked veg but will munch on raw veg which is better for you anyway!!

Cheers for that. I do like some fruits and veggies but prefer to drink as it goes down easier and also i do not by far get enough of my recomended amount of fluids which i am guessing why i am always feeling so hungry but i really hardly ever feel thirty unless ive had some huge unhealthy meal!

*feel thirsty* that was supposed to say!!!
The five portions should be different vegetable or fruit, and ideally 3 veg and 2 fruit.
If you had a huge plate of cabbage, it would still only provide 1 portion, but it would lose you 5 friends ( paarrpp)

hahaha@normy that made me laugh! cheers for your answer :)
i aim to please,
Can you drink some V-8 juice as well? Still have to eat the fruit and vegetables if possible, but it would be better than nothing:)
I understand that fruit juice only counts as one but if you took an apple and an orange and blended them (so there would still be all the fibre etc) and drank them that way, it would still be juice yet be two pieces of fruit. No?
Blending is different to juicing. You still get all the fibre if you blend fruit so it would definatly count as part of your 5 a day. (Although 5 a day is not really enough, we should all be eating much more fruit and veg than that!)
