Rockrose, I 'dragged' no one into it. I simply said that someone here felt that retired people should no longer be allowed to vote indicating that Jamelia isn't alone in her opinions. A fair enough response to the OP. Save your sensitivities for Chatterbank. This is News.
She is only reiterating a point often made by younger Remainers.....that they are the ones 'condemned' to live with the decision to leave the EU; a decision they believe was driven by the xenophobia exhibited by the older generations.
She is suggesting that those with the wisdom of years of experience should not help guide society in the right direction because they have fewer years left so ought not help nor care, but leave the rest to make the same mistakes as the past ? Sounds like she wasn't thinking straight.
I think what Rockrose said was TIC. Someone (Chris) saying that only people with a degree in economics should be allowed to vote. Which rules out how many people?
nope. As ummmm says, some people think only economists should vote. Some think young people shouldn't. It was only quite recently that people agreed women should (and it wasn't 100 years ago either, it wasn't till much later that all women were able to vote). None of these approaches is vile, even if I disagree with them.
She's talking to an old person and says 'you shouldn't have a vote, you'll be dead soon'.
I know we have to tippy toe around her but she sounds pretty vile to me. (I suppose she can't help being thick as mince)
I agree with the big chap at the end. The majority of 16 year olds do only care about themselves, and not the nation as a whole, let alone even be able to understand it.
Let be real, do you have the same political awareness now as you did when you were 16? PURLEEEEESE ;)
