play DVDs from USA (Region 1)

My DVD player is supposed to play DVDs from all regions. I want to buy a US DVD (Hail! Hail! Rock n Roll, Chuck Berry), but Amazon say that I have to have a TV which plays NTSC, the US TV standard. If my DVD player will play the DVD, shouldn't that be OK?
Alternatively, could I rip it on my computer and then burn a new DVD?

as long as your tv is fairly new you'll be fine.

AS long as your dvd player is multi regional you'll be fine. some films from the states are rce protected now so they dont work on all dvd players but mine plays them fine.

....but the tv needs to be able to recognise an ntsc signal.if the tv is 10 years old(ish) or less then it will be perfectly ok.
